Simple and beautiful. Textures and colors I love. The lobby area at the Vil Uyana in Sigiriya.

Morning visitor, in the fog. Just outside Ella Village.

\

On the beach in, northeast Sri Lanka, a few miles south of the remote village of Kuchchaveli, where people are finally returning after the war. It was the rainy season/monsoon season in that part of Sri Lanka, which made the sky and ocean so moody and beautiful.

\

Boat manage to be so colorful, fun and pretty, but lonely and forlorn at the same time. In the northeast where its monsoon season, the fisherman have left their boats behind, and gone south in search of sun, and better fishing conditions. In Trincomalee.

\

Sri Lanka is the greenest country I’ve even been to. A million shades of green. Here are some in Polonnaruwa.

\

I rented a bike near Wijaya Beach and then rode northeast, and spotted her along the road.

\

The Barn Swallows at The Frangipani Tree. In Thalpe.

It rained non-stop the first week I spent in Sri Lanka, but I liked it. I was staying in beautiful, little boutique hotels around the country, so it was nice to stay around the hotel relaxing, and taking in the gorgeous surroundings. At the Vil Uyana in Sigiriya.

\

Each night before sunset the fisherman would assume their positions on the rocks and traditional Sri Lankan style fishing spoles, and fish until sundown. In Thalpe.

\

Inside St. Peter’s Church, which is tucked away down an alley between the Grand Orient Hotel and police headquarters. That large blue thing is a giant old fan. I was told the wood was original from the early 1800s.

\

We drove northeast past Kuchchaveli to see the areas affected by the war. We stopped the car so I could take this photo. When the driver tried to restart the car, it was dead. Now in middle of nowhere, it took until the next morning to get the car sorted.

Galle Fort beach. At sunset. In Galle.

\

In Colombo, inside the old Cargills Department Store building, located in the oldest part of town. They are turning the colonial building into a luxury hotel. When they do, hopefully they’ll leave the “alarm system” in place.
